DEATH OF MR. HERBERT HANKS.

We regret to record the death of Mr. Herbert Hanks, of Rose Cottage, Collington-avenue, which took place on the 12th inst.
Mr. Hanks, who was 63 years of age, was a member of a family well-known in Bexhill, one of his sons having formerly been the proprietor of an institute for physical culture. Members of the family have been on military service since the War. Mr. Hanks was well-known in business at 39, Berners-street, London, as an artistic decorator. He carried out work for the Duke of Wellington, the Grand Duke Michael, Lord Michelham, and others.
The funeral took place on Tuesday. The service was at St. Stephen's Church, the interment being at Bexhill Cemetery. It was much regretted that Second Lieutenant H. D. Hanks (son), now on service in France, could not return in time to attend.
The chief mourners were:—Mrs. H. Hanks (widow), Miss Mabel Hanks (daughter), 2nd Lieutenant Owen Leonard Hanks (son), 2nd Lieutenant Louis Hanks (brother), Mrs. F. Dyer (sister-in-law), Miss Fanny Hanks (niece), Miss Edith Packman (niece), Mrs. Pocock (niece), Mr. Ernest Dyer (nephew), Mr. Harry Dyer (nephew), and Mr. Kohler; with the following representatives of of the firm of H. Hanks, Ltd.:—Mr. Reed, Mr. Atkin, Mr. Wodehouse, and Mr. Pannett....
