At the time of the 1881 England Census William Vine, age 16, born in Lewes, clerk to estate agent, was with his widowed mother, Ellen Newman Vine, lodging house keeper, at 33 Regency Square Brighton Sussex.

At the time of the 1901 England Census William Vine, age 36, born in Lewes, manager shipbroker, and wife Katherine, age 37, born in Alfriston, were living at 15 Fairlop Rd., Leyton Kent. With him were children: Kathleen (7) of Harleaden Middlesex, Christopher (5) of Harleaden, Ivy V. (1) of Croydon Surrey, and widowed mother Ellen N Vine (64) of Brighton Sussex.

At the time of the 1911 England Census William Vine, age 46, born in Lewes Sussex, manager to shipping agency, and wife of 20 years Katherine Matilda, age 47, born in Alfriston Sussex (mother of 4 children) were living in Gravesend Kent. With them were children: Florance Mary Kathleen (17) of Harleaden Middlesex, student teacher, Christopher Vincent Nithsdale (15), school, Alice Ivy Sylvia (11) of S Norwood? Surrey, school, Enid Barbara (7) of S Norwood Essex, school, mother Ellen Newman Vine (74) of Brighton Sussex, widow, sister-in-law Elizabeth Florence Palmer (49) of Brighton Sussex, single, great-nephew John David Coppinger Pickles (2) of Gravesend Kent.

In the 1939 Register William Vine (b. 19 Nov 1864), widowed, shipping agent, was living at 5 Parrock Road, Gravesend, Kent. With him were [daughters, all single] Florence M. K. (b. 29 Oct 1893), principal school mistress, Ivy A. S. (b. 26 Apr 1899), school mistress, Enid B. (b. 3 Aug 1903), school mistress.

Mr. William Vine, who had a business as a ship broker in Harmer Street Gravesend, died at his home, 5, Parrock Road, Gravesend, on Saturday.

He was 85 and a native of Lewes. He had lived in Gravesend for many years.

His three daughters carry on the Bronte School, Parrock Road, and are well-known in North Kent music circles.

The funeral at Gravesend Cemetery on Wednesday was conducted by the Rev. C. W. Good.
