Will of James Ross, late of Parkes, farmer, written 2 Feb 1911, probate 29 Feb 1924.

"This is the last Will and Testament of me James Ross of Parkes in the State of New South Wales, Farmer. I appoint my wife Jane Ross (hereinafter called "my Trustee") to be the Executrix and Trustee of this my Will. And I appoint my wife during her life, and after her death the Trustees for the time being of this my Will to be the guardian and guardians of my infant children. I give all my property unto my Trustee into trust to convert into money the same, and invest the proceeds in any investment authorised by law for trust funds with power to vary such investments at her discretion And to pay the income of the proceeds to my wife during her life, and after her death to divide the corpus equally among all my children who being sons have attained or shall attain the age of twenty one years or being daughters have attained or shall attain that age or shall marry. And I empower my Trustee to postpone the conversion of any part of my property for so long as she shall think fit. And to manage carry on and conduct any farming grazing or other business in which I may be engaged at my death with liberty to employ thereon such part or parts of my Estate as my Trustee shall think fit and the income of unconverted property shall from the time of my death go in the same manner as the income of the proceeds thereof would have been applicable if the same had been converted. And I declare that the statutory power of appointing a new Trustee or Trustees hereto shall be exercisable by my wife. In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name this second day of February One thousand nine hundred and eleven. JAMES ROSS.
Signed by the above named James Ross as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us both being present at the same time who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses: J. G. Crowther, solicitor, Parkes — Arthur Haselhwist, Articled Law Clerk, Parkes.

29th February 1924. Probate of the above Will granted to Jane Ross of Parkes, Widow, the Sole Executrix therein named. Testator died at Parkes 31st January 1924. Estate sworn at £2798:17:11 net."

"DEATH OF MR. JAMES ROSS.

Mr. James Ross, of Deep Lead, a very old resident of the district died on Thursday last, at the age of 67, and an illness of about a fortnight's duration. The deceased was a native of Forbes, but practically the whole of his.life had been spent in this locality, and he settled at Deep Lead thirty-three years ago. Besides a widow he leaves a grown up family of four sons and four daughters, the sons being Mr. E. J. Ross (Parkes), W. Ross (Tottenham), Mervyn Ross (Forbes), and Henry C. Ross (Parkes) and the daughters Mrs. W. Coventry (Orange), C. Waters (Trundle), M. O'Malley , (Mudgee) and Mrs. W. Sladden (Parkes). The funeral: took place on Friday, to the Anglican Cemetery, where, in the absence of the Rector, the burial service was read by the Rev. T. Mathers."
