In 1861 Richard Spackman, aged 46, born in Wootton Bassett Wilts, slater & plasterer, and wife Mary Ann, aged 43, born in Wootton Bassett, were living in Coxstalls, Wootton Bassett. With them were children (born in Wootton Bassett) Emily (21), James (17), Caroline (12), scholar, Tom (9), scholar, Frederick (6), scholar, Louisa (3), and Charles (5 mo).

The Will of Richard Spackman late of the parish of Wootton Bassett in the county of Wilts, plasterer and tiler, who died 21 March 1885 at Wootton Bassett, was proved 24 July at Salisbury by Henry Baker, gardener, and James Smith, ironmonger, both of Wootton Bassett, the executors. Personal estate £237 4s. 8d. 4
