In 1861 William Miles, aged 40, born in Cliffe Pypard, carpenter, and wife Eliza, aged 30, born in . . . . . . . Hampton, Gloucestershire, were living in Cliffe Pypard. Present were children (born in Cliffe Pypard): Ellen (5), John Edward (3), Elizabeth Lucy (1).
In 1871 William Miles, aged 50, born in Cliffe Pypard, married, carpenter, was with his parents in Broad town, Cliffe Pypard.
