In 1765 Jane was, as one of the younger children of Blanch Phillips and her husband John Phillips, a beneficiary of the will of her maternal grandfather Richard Hockin of Nanterrow, who left her 5 shillings.
In 1778 Jane was named as a beneficiary in her father's will, to receive £50. In a codicil to his will, written in 1782, he further gave her his house in Nanterrow and adjoining fields which he'd originally bequeathed to his eldest daughter Agnes who died within his lifetime.
