In 1851 Robert Smallwood (87) of Llanbeblig Caernarvonshire, widower, farmer of 200 acres employing 6 labourers, was living in Garnan fawr, Penmynydd, Anglesey. Present were children (unmarried): Richard Roberts (47) of Amlwch Anglesey, ag lab, Catherine Roberts (45) of Amlwch, Ellen Roberts (26) of Penmynydd, granddaughter Elizabeth Hughes (18) Tregeyan Anglesey.

Abstract of the Will of Robert Smallwood of Garnon fawr in the Parish of Penmynydd in the County of Anglesey, farmer, written 5 Apr 1855, proved 15 Jun 1855.

Gives and devises to his eldest son Richard and his heirs all his messuage, farm lands and hereditaments called Cadair Elwa in the Parish of Llangybi in the County of Carnarvon. Also gives and bequeaths to his son Richard £1000.

Gives and bequeaths £100 to his son John.

Gives and bequeaths £50 to his daughter Ellin the wife of William Hughes of Tynymynydd in the Parish of Tregaian in the County of Anglesey.

Gives and bequeaths £50 to his granddaughter Elizabeth the wife of Owen Edwards of Yr Orsedd in the Parish of Penmynydd aforesaid.

Gives and bequeaths his farming stock, implements of husbandry, household goods, money in the house and securities for money to his daughter Catherine who is currently living with him.

All the rest and residue of his personal estate and effects he gives and bequeaths to his said daughter Catherine whom he nominates and appoints sole Executrix of his last will and testament.
