At the time of the 1881 England Census Thomas Walter Avis, age 12, born in Mayfield Sussex, scholar, was with his parents in Back Lane, Mayfield Sussex.
At the time of the 1891 England Census Tom Avis, age 24, born in Mayfield Sussex, single, railway engine driver, was living in High Street, Great Missenden Buckinghamshire.
At the time of the 1901 England Census Thomas Avis, age 31, born in Mayfield Sussex, railway platelayer, and wife Elizabeth, age 31, born in Chesham Bucks, were living in Station Row, High St., Great Missenden Buckinghamshire. With them were children (born in Gt. Missenden): Thomas (8), Florence (6), and Dorothy (1).
At the time of the 1911 England Census Thomas Avis, age 42, born in Mayfield Sussex, railway foreman, and wife of 20 years Elizabeth, age 42, born in Chesham Bucks (mother of 3 children), were living in Little Missenden, Amersham Bucks. With them was daughter Dorothy (11) of Gt. Missenden, school.

OBITUARY.
We regret to announce the death of Mr. Thomas Walter Avis, of "The Flags," Little Missenden, who passed peacefully away on March 25th, at the age of 69. The funeral took place at Little Missenden Church on Tuesday, March 29th. The Rev. W. G. Branch, in the absence of Rev. Davies through illness, conducted the service. The personal mourners were: Mrs. Avis (widow), Mr. and Mrs. F. Brooks (daughter and son-in-law), Mr. G. Avis (brother), Mrs. F. Jordon (sister), Mr. and Mrs. J. Redding (brother and sister-in-law).
