In 1844 John Nevil Maskelyne became a beneficiary of the Will of his uncle Jasper Maskelyne of Wootton Bassett, gent.

In 1851 John N Maskelyne, aged 49, born in Birmingham Wark., innkeeper, and wife Harrett, aged 38, born in Cheltenham Glos., were living at . . . . . . . Inn, Manchester Walk, Cheltenham Gloucestershire. With them were children (born in Cheltenham): Mary (16), Amelia (13), John N (12), Clara (9), Julia (7), Jane (5) and Miriam (2).

In 1854 John Nevil Maskelyne of Cheltenham in co. Gloucester received £19 19s. from the Will of his late uncle Timothy Maskelyne of Littlecott in Hilmarton Wilts, yeoman.

In 1861 John N. Masculine, aged 60, born in Birmingham Warwick, retired sadler, and wife Harriett, aged 48, born in Cheltenham Gloucestershire, dressmaker, were living at 12 Rotunda Tce., Cheltenham.
