In 1844 John Nevil Maskelyne became a beneficiary of the Will of his uncle Jasper Maskelyne of Wootton Bassett, gent.

In 1851 John N Maskelyne, aged 49, born in Birmingham Wark., innkeeper, and wife Harrett, aged 38, born in Cheltenham Glos., were living at . . . . . . . Inn, Manchester Walk, Cheltenham Gloucestershire. With them were children (born in Cheltenham): Mary (16), Amelia (13), John N (12), Clara (9), Julia (7), Jane (5) and Miriam (2).

In 1854 John Nevil Maskelyne of Cheltenham in co. Gloucester received £19 19s. from the Will of his late uncle Timothy Maskelyne of Littlecott in Hilmarton Wilts, yeoman.

In 1861 John N. Masculine, aged 60, born in Birmingham Warwick, retired sadler, and wife Harriett, aged 48, born in Cheltenham Gloucestershire, dressmaker, were living at 12 Rotunda Tce., Cheltenham. With them were children (born in Cheltenham): Mary (25), dressmaker, John N. (21), jeweller, Clara (19), miliner, Julia (17), dressmaker, Miriam (12), scholar, and Emily (8), scholar.

In April 1865 John Nevil Maskelyne was a witness to the marriage of his daughter Amelia Maskelyne and William Bailey in Cheltenham Gloucestershire.

John was not present with his family at the 1871 Census.

John Neville Maskelyne, saddler, of Gloucester Lunatic Asylum, died aged 75 years (burial record).

John married Harriet Brunsden, daughter of John Brunsden and Ann, in 1833 in Swindon, Gloucestershire, England. (Harriet Brunsden was christened 29 Jul 1812 in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England and was buried on 15 Feb 1878 in Brompton Cemetery, London, England, aged 66 years.)
