In 1805 Joseph Short son of William Short was bequeathed £10 in the Will of his uncle Thomas Short of Wootton Bassett, gent.
In 1813 Joseph Short was co-executor of his father's Will, receiving £10 and his father's freehold tenement with the malthouses, outbuildings, gardens and a half-acre of land in Coxtalls.
In 1814 Joseph Short was sole executor of his mother's Will, receiving £10.
At the time of the 1841 England Census Joseph Short, aged 60, labourer, and wife Anne, aged 48, were living in Lyneham. With them were Charles Short (12) and Edward Short (10).
