Memorandum that Henry Short late of Wootton Bassett in the County of Wilts, tallow chandler, on Munday the seventh day of December in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and two, being then in his sicknesse whereof the day following died, did in the dwelling house of Joane Short, widow, situate in Wootton Bassett aforesaid, being the house of birth and habitation of the said Henry Short, publish and declare in the presence of us Charles Clarke, William Blake, Edward Franklen and George Heale his last will and Testament Nuncupative in these words following or in words to the like effect, that is to say...
'I give all I have to my mother Joane Short and after her decease to be equally divided between my brothers,' which said words were uttered in our presence with declaration and intent that the same should stand & be his last will and testament, as witness our hands this tenth day of December in the first yeare of the Reigne of our soveranie Lady Ann by the Grace of God of England Scotland France & Ireland, Queen Defender of the Faith &c., Anno Dni one thousand seven hundred and two.
