  Research Notes:

At the time of the 1901 England Census Elsie Budgen, age 20, born in Barcombe Sussex, was visiting [her sister Clara Dabson and her family] in Pay Gate, Laughton Sussex.

At the time of the 1911 England Census Elsie Edith Funnell, age 30, born in Barcombe Sussex (mother of 3 children) and husband of 9 years Horace Funnell, age 37, born in Upper Dicker Sussex, bricklayer, were living in Ripe Street, Ripe Sussex. With them were Elsie's son John Budgen (10) of Laughton, school, Elsie Alice Funnell (8) of Upper Dicker, Horace Randall Funnell (3) of Ripe, and Denis Hector Funnell (1) of Ripe.

In Dec 1931 Elsie Edith Funnell (wife of Horace Funnell) was granted Administration of the personal effects of her late son Horace Randall Funnell of The Hermitage Berwick Station, who died 26 Oct 1931 at Polegate in a motorcycle accident.

In the 1939 Register Elsie E Funnell (b. 29 May 1880), widowed, unpaid domestic duties, was living in Hermitage, Berwick, Sussex. At the same address were [daughter] Clara B Weeks (b. 31 Oct 1913) and her husband Douglas A G Weeks (b. 17 Apr 1910).

Elsie Edith Funnell of Berwick was cremated and her ashes interred in Grave 372 (burial record).

  Marriage Information:

Elsie married Horace Funnell, son of James Funnell and Mary Ann Bennett, in 1902 in the Eastbourne District, Sussex, England. (Horace Funnell was christened on 8 Mar 1874 in Upper Dicker, Sussex, England, died on 19 Jun 1939 in Berwick, Sussex, England and was buried there on 22 Jun 1939, aged 65 years.)
