At the time of the 1911 England Census Ethel Rule, aged 29, born in Sheerness Kent (no children), and husband of 4 years Robert Campbell Rule, aged 30, born in Sheerness, stores clerk (electrical machinery), were living at 152 Back Street, Rugby Warwickshire.

In the 1939 Register Ethel Rule (b. 10 Jul 1881), unpaid domestic duties, and husband Robert C Rule (b. 2 Jan 1881), tobacconist, sugar confectionery (shopkeeper), were living at 49 Oakley Avenue, Ealing Middlesex.
