Abstract of the Will of John Tayler 'the Elder' of Heathfield in the County of Sussex, Yeoman, written 15 Oct 1613, proved 10 Nov 1613. 3
Wills & bequeaths to his wife Mary all the household goods in the chamber over the kitchen as well as 10 shillings to be paid to her by his son John. The rest of household stuff he gives to his son John, excepting one long table in the parlour, which he gives to his grandchild John, the infant son of his son John.
Gives to his son John the long table in the hall. Also gives & bequeaths to him four acres of land known as Stonefield, upon condition that John pay to his mother the said Mary 2 shillings 6 pence quarterly out of the said land, for the term of her natural life.
Wills that his cottage and land belonging to it in the parish of Warbleton known as Bakhurst [Bathurst] be sold, and from the money raised he gives £5 each to his grandchildren John Cossam, Thomas Cossam and Adam Cossam, his daughter's children by Adam Cossam deceased; the residue of the money raised he gives to John, Thomas and Richard, the children of his son Thomas Tayler.
Gives & bequeaths to his daughter Mary the money that she owes him.
Gives & bequeaths 20 shillings to the poor of the parish of Heathfield.
Appoints his son Thomas executor of his last will and testament.
