At the time of the 1851 England Census Matilda Duke, aged 38, born in Hooe Sussex, and husband William [sic] Duke, aged 38, born in Bexhill Sussex, General Practitioner, M.R.C.S., were living at 26 George St., Hastings St. Mary in the Castle Sussex. At the time of the 1891 England Census Matilda Duke, aged 77, born in Hooe Sussex, widow, no occupation, was living at 9 Cornwallis Terrace, Hastings Holy Trinity. With her was son Frederick (40) of Hastings, no occupation.
