In 1740 Richard Bristed received £5 from his father's Will.
In 1749 Richard's cousin, Richard Bristed of Warbleton, gent., paid sums of money in Trust to him for the benefit of the children of his late sister and brother Sarah and John, their children being under age. His cousin also bequeathed Richard £50.

Abstract of the Will of Richard Bristed of Warbleton in the County of Sussex, Yeoman, written 19 Oct 1796, proved 25 Feb 1799. 3
Gives and bequeaths £200 to his natural son by John Bristed Huggett by Sarah Huggett deceased, to be paid to him when he reaches the age of 21 years. In the meantime he places the money in Trust with J. Trayton Fuller esq. of Ashdown House in East Grinstead Sussex, directing his trustee to pay 4% interest annually to his said natural son.
If his son should die before reaching the age of 21 years he wills that the said £200 together with his goods, chattels, stock, tackle, corn, hay, household furniture, linen, plate, books, book debts, ready money, bills, bonds, notes and the rest of his personal estate, to be equally divided between the following persons: Thomas Swatland and Samuel Swatland, the sons of his late sister Sarah; his nephew and niece Richard Bristed and Mary the wife of James Kennard, the son and daughter of his late brother Ezekiel Bristed; his nephew Richard Bristed, the son of his late brother John Bristed; his kinsman Alexander Ousbourn and kinswoman Alis Ousbourn, the son and daughter of Thomas Osbourn.
Appoints Mr. John Reeve, senior, and John Pattenden, both of Warbleton, co-executors of his last will and testament.
Requests that his executors assist his natural son with good advice and directions.
