At the time of the 1871 England Census Henry Parker, age 18, born in Ringmer Sussex, single, journeyman miller, was lodging in Mill Cottage, Maresfield Sussex.
At the time of the 1881 England Census Henry J. Parker, age 28, born in Ringmer Sussex, carpenter, and wife Lucy, age 29, born in Lewes Sussex, were living in Cliffe Sussex. With them was son George E (7) of Lewes, scholar.
At the time of the 1891 England Census Henry Parker, age 37, born in Ringmer Sussex, carpenter & joiner, and wife Lucy, age 38, born in Lewes, caretaker of school of art, were living in school of art, 11 Albion Street, All Saints Lewes. With them was son George (17) of Lewes, wine merchant's clerk.
At the time of the 1901 England Census Henry J. Parker, age 48, born in Ringmer Sussex, carpenter & joiner, and wife Lucy, age 48, born in Lewes Sussex, were living at 2 Pelham Place, St. Andrew's Lane, Lewes St. Michael Sussex. Present was son George E (26) of Lewes, wine merchant's clerk.
At the time of the 1911 England Census Henry John Parker, age 57, born in Ringmer Sussex, widower, carpenter & joiner, was with his son George Ernest Parker and his family at 5 East Street, All Saints Lewes.

LATE MR. H. J. PARKER : LEWES
The interment took place at Lewes on Monday of the late Mr. Henry John Parker, a former chief officer of Lewes Fire Brigade, from which he retired in 1905, after many years' service. Mr. Parker, who was 69, was a native of Ringmer. He had latterly been residing at Brighton.
Joining the Brigade as a fireman he gained the rank of Chief officer and held the long service medal of the Fire Brigade Association. He also gained many medals and other trophies in fire drill competitions.
He was for many years caretaker of Lewes School of Art and one of the oldest members of Lewes Castle Lodge of the A.O.F., which he joined in 1874.
The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. C. Clark Snell (rector of Cliffe). Family mourners present were:—Mrs. Parker (widow), Mr. G. E. Parker (son), Mrs. and Miss Message, Mr. F. Message (Weston), cousins; Mr. and Mrs. Aldridge (cousins), Mrs. Harvey (Hove), and Mr. Williams (London). Chief Officer Roberts (Lewes Fire Brigade) and Mr. John Hall, a former member of the Brigade, also attended.

Henry John Parker of 96 Queen's-road Brighton died 8 September 1921 at the Sussex County Hospital Brighton. Probate Lewes 18 October to George Ernest Parker, cashier. Effects £368 10s. 6d. 4
