Writing his Will in Dec 1838 shortly before his death, Jesse Fuller the Younger of Burwash, farmer, entrusted to his executors James Russell the Elder and James Russell the Younger, of Burwash, the monies arising from the sale of his real and personal estate, the interest of which to be used for the maintenance of James Akehurst and Stephen Akehurst, then minors, the sons of his wife Frances Fuller formerly Frances Akehurst, spinster, born before Jesse married her. He directed that, once James Akehurst and Stephen Akehurst reach their respective ages of 21 years or were married, that they should receive the Trust monies in equal shares. 4

With them were children (born in Heathfield): William (12), scholar, Rosa Elizabeth (9), Frank (5), Andrew (3), and Harry (1).
At the time of the 1881 England Census James Akehurst, age 55, born in Heathfield Sussex, agl laborer, and wife Ann, age 44, born in Heathfield, were living in Swife Road, Heathfield Sussex. With them were children (born in Heathfield): William (20), general laborer, Frank (16), general laborer, Andrew (14), general laborer, Harry (11), scholar, Jane (8), scholar, and Flora (4), scholar.
