Ingulph's Chronicle of the Abbey of Croyland records the accession of "Wichtlaf duke of the Wiccii whose son Wymund had married Alfleda, the daughter of Ceolwulph the former king", dating her marriage to before her father-in-law's accession. William of Malmesbury names "Elhfleda, daughter of Chelwulf" as the mother of "Wistan". According to Ingulph's Chronicle of the Abbey of Croyland, Ælflæd died soon after her husband. 1

Ælfleda married Wigmund, King of Mercia, son of Witglaff (Wiglaf) King of Mercia and Cyneðryð, Princess of Mercia, before 827. (Wigmund, King of Mercia died about 839 and was buried in Croyland Abbey.)
