Joseph Stevens of West Firle

Ann Maria Skinner

  • Born: Abt 1816, Ashurst, Kent, England
  • Married: 29 Sep 1844, St. Nicholas Church, Brighton, Sussex, England 1
  • Buried: 31 Aug 1878, West Firle, Sussex, England 2

  Research Notes:

The marriage record shows Ann Maria Skinner as the daughter of John Ford (see below). This indicates that Ann was born before her mother married John Ford who may or may not have been her father. John Ford married Mary Skinner by Licence on 26 Dec 1820 in Southover Sussex, the entry recording that Mary Skinner was from Ashurst in the county of Kent, where Ann was born. As there was a three-to-four-year gap between when Ann was born and when John Ford and Mary Skinner were married, it is probable that John Ford was Ann's stepfather.

Annie Maria Stevens of Firle died aged 61 years (burial record).

  Marriage Information:

Ann married Joseph Stephens, son of William Stephens and Frances Akehurst, on 29 Sep 1844 in St. Nicholas Church, Brighton, Sussex, England. (Joseph Stephens was christened on 8 Mar 1792 in West Firle, Sussex, England and was buried there on 24 May 1875, aged 83 years.)
