Her parentage and marriage are suggested by her husband being named in her mother´s document dated 975. However, the charter dated 15 Jul 1009... shows that all the known children of Flaín Muñoz were born from his marriage to Justa Pépiz, whom he must therefore have married well before 15 Jul 991 when she is first named with her patronymic. The question is further complicated by a charter dated 26 Feb 1020, under which Fernando Flaínez (son of Flaín Muñoz) donated the monastery and town of Pereda to San Marcos, which states that one of the properties "Sajambre" had belonged to "Fredenando Uermudiz et Flauio Moniz avii et patris nostri". The only apparent explanation for these two contradictory sources appears to be that Justa Fernández and Justa Pépiz were in fact the same person and that "Pépiz" represented some sort of nickname not a patronymic. 1
