In 1901 Francis Miles, aged 53, born in Phillack, tin miner, and wife Mary E. Miles, aged 49, born in Hayle, were in Mellanoweth, Phillack. With them were children (born in Phillack) Kate (24), Thomas H. (22), tin miner, Francis J. (20), tin miner, Bessie (14), dressmaker, and William (12).

Death of Mr. F. Miles, Hayle.
The death took place at Angarrack, Hayle, on the 29th January, of Mr. Frank Miles. Deceased had been laid up for some time, being subject to miner's complaint. On Tuesday afternoon he was out in the garden, and on coming into the house he went to sit by the fire, but almost immediately expired. The news caused quite a gloom in the village, deceased being well known and highly respected. He leaves a widow, three sons, and two daughters to mourn his loss.
