In 1841 John Vivian, aged about 35, born in the county, copper mine agent, and wife Catherine Vivian, aged about 30, were in Trenearth, Crowan, Cornwall. With them were children John (10), Richard (8), Catherine (6), Mary (4), Henry (2). Present also was Joseph Jeffree (20), tailor - probably a relation of Catherine.
In 1851 John Vivian, aged 46, born in Camborne, married, mine agent, was in Ramsgate, Camborne, Cornwall. With him were children John (19), work to mine, Richard (17), work to mine, Catherine (15), scholar, Mary Ann (14) - all born in Camborne, Henry (11), scholar, born in Gwinear.
A Captain Vivian, aged 49, arrived in Philadelphia, USA in 1853 aboard the vessel City of Glasgow.
At the time of the 1880 U.S. Federal Census, John Vivian, aged 71 [sic], born in England, mine labor, and wife Catherine Vivian, aged 69, born in England, were in Franklin, Houghton, Michigan, USA. Present were daughter Mary A. Bennetts (39) of England, married, grandson John V. Bennetts (4) of Michigan.

VIVIAN—At Meaderville, in the United States, recently, Capt. John Vivian, who for many years was mining captain in the Lake Superior copper regions in Michigan, aged 93.
