In 1851 James Vivian, aged 39, born in Phillack Cornwall, agent flour factory, and wife Mary J. Vivian, aged 34, born in St. Erth Cornwall, were living in Penpull [Penpoll] Terrace, Phillack, Cornwall. With them were sons (born in Phillack) James (4), and Thomas J. (2).
In 1861 James Vivian, aged 49, born in Phillack, agent to a corn and flour factory, and wife Mary J. Vivian, aged 44, born in St. Erth, were at Eden House, Phillack, Cornwall. With them were sons (born in Phillack) Thomas J. (12), scholar, William G. (7), scholar. James's brother William and his family were living nextdoor.
In 1871 James Vivian, aged 59, born in Gwinear Cornwall, commission agent for manures and coals, and wife Mary J. Vivian, aged 54, born in St. Erth, were at 7 Chapel St., Tavistock, Devon. With them was son Thomas J. (22) of Hayle, writer for the papers.
In 1881 James Vivian, aged 69, born in Hayle Cornwall, commission agent, and wife Mary J. Vivian, aged 65, born in St. Erth, were at 7 Chapel St., Tavistock, Devon.
