Richard Polkinghorne TREMELLING

   Research Notes:

In 1851, Richard Tremelion (20) of Phillack, copper miner, and brother Thomas, were with their maternal grandmother Grace Trevaskes* in Adelaide St., Camborne.

* Grace remarried to Gregory Trevaskis after the death of her first husband, Richard Polkinghorne.

In 1861, Richard Tremilling (30) of Phillack, copper miner, and wife Jane (33) of Camborne, were living in Tolvaddon, Illogan. Present were children: Mary (9), Honor (7), Jane (6), Richard (2) —all born in Camborne, and Elizabeth Ann (7m), born in Illogan.

In 1871, Richard Tremelling (44) [sic], tin & copper miner, and [2nd] wife Mary Ann (47), were living in Adelaide St., Camborne. With them were children Mary Ann* (21), mine labourer at surface, John* † (19), tin & copper miner, Honor (17), , Richd. (11), mine labourer at surface

* Both these children have "Tailor" as a second/third given name in this Census (Richard's second wife's maiden-name); however, they were Richard's children by his first marriage.

† No record of a son John, either in the 1861 Census or the GROE Birth Index. It is likely this was actually daughter Jane.

Richard Tremelling died aged 42 years. Richard's second wife, Mary Ann, remarried in 1879.
