In 1891 Martha J. Balhatchet, aged 31, born in St. Ervan Cornwall, minister's wife, husband John Balhatchet, aged 36, born in Week St. Mary Cornwall, bible christian minister, and children Ethel E. (4) of St. Ervan and John N. (5 mo) of St. Ervan, were with Martha's parents in Pentruse, St. Ervan.

In June 1896 Martha Jane Balhatchet, widow, was granted Probate of her late husband's personal effects.

In 1901 Martha J Balhatchet, aged 41, born in St. Ervan, widow, independent means, was living in Rumford St. Ervan. With her were son John (10) of London and sister Emma S. Hawken (38) of St. Ervan, single, independent means.
