In 1841 John Hawken, aged about 56?, farmer, and wife Martha Hawken, aged about 45, born in the county, farmer's wife, were living in Treginegar, St. Ervan, Cornwall. With them were children Willliam (20), Mary (16), James (13), and Jane (11).
In 1851 John Hawken, aged 63, born in St. Ervan, farmer of 200 acres employing 8 men 2 women and a boy, and wife Martha Hawken, aged 57, born in St. Issey Cornwall, farmer's wife, were living in Treginegar, St. Ervan, Cornwall. With them were children (born in St. Ervan) Mary H. (25), James (22), and Jane P. (20).
