In 1840 Nicholas Joseph Vivian was co-executor of his father's will.

In 1861 Nicholas J. Vivian, aged 47, born in Camborne Cornwall, unmarried, proprietor of mines, was living in Basset Rd., Camborne. Living with him are his nephew Joseph P. Dunstan and niece Julia V. Dunstan.

In 1871 Nicholas J. Vivian, aged 57, born in Camborne, unmarried, income from various sources, was staying staying with his niece Julia V. Andrew and her family in Chapel Yard, Camborne.

In 1881 Nicholas Jos. Vivian, aged 67, born in Camborne, unmarried, was at Sion House, Grande Longueville, St. Saviour, Jersey.
