* This is an error. In 1861, Francis, his brother Nicholas, and their mother Caroline, were with his maternal grandparents, Thomas and Catherine Andrew. Note, however, that in 1871, Francis, then 18, was lodging with Philip James. There is no record in any of the Censuses of a Philip Provis, nor in the marriage registrar for Camborne or the surrounding parishes, nor in the GROE Marriage Index. East Charles Street, where Francis was residing at the time of his marriage, was also where his maternal grandparents (and mother) were residing at the time of the 1881 Census. In 1888, Catherine Provis was a witness at the marriage of Martha Louisa Williams (above) to Nicholas Andrew Provis (Francis' younger brother).
