In 1851 Thomas Carah, aged 57, born in Crowan Cornwall, copper miner, and wife Christian Carah, aged 57, born in Camborne, were living in Union St., Camborne. With them were children (born in Camborne) Keturia (26), copper mine girl, Elizabeth (20), copper mine girl, and Thomas (15), errand boy.
In 1871 Thomas Carah, aged 78, born in Crowan, annuitant, was widowed and staying with his son* William Carah and family.
* The 1871 Census calls Thomas G.father of William, which was an error on the part of the census taker, except insofar as Thomas was the grandfather of William's recorded children.
