Obituary

"ON Saturday last, at The Anchorage, Pilgrim street, Footscray, the wife of Mr Thomas Greenwood, and only daughter of Mrs E. Tyack, an old and respected resident, died after an illness of five months. The deceased was 29 years of age, had been married three years, and the cause of death was rapid consumption. The funeral took place on Monday, when the remains, encased in a polished oaken coffin, were conveyed in a hearse drawn by four horses to the Footscray cemetery. The cortege was a lengthy one, representatives of the Protestant Alliance Friendly Society and the Amalgamated Society of Engineers being in attendance, in addition to a large number of relatives and friends. The burial service was conducted by the Rev. J. Goble, and the floral wreaths placed on the grave were very numerous, including a specially handsome design sent by the employees of Messrs Foy and Gibson, at which establishment deceased had been engaged as saleswoman for some five years. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Mr A.Oakley, local manager for Mr. H. King and the pall bearers were Misses J. Woolcock, J Dewar, J. Davis, J. Kerr, P. Swanney, G. Miller, E.
