At the time of the 1881 Scotland Census Margaret Barclay, aged 21, born in Tarbolton Ayrshire, domestic table maid, was in F. C. Manse, Ochiltree, Ayrshire. Margaret and her aunt Jane Cowan (47) were working for the Revd. Neil Livingston & his wife Jane.

In December 1890 Maggie Barclay was present at the marriage of her sister Mary Wilson Barclay to Robert Scott in Tarbolton Ayrshire.

At the time of the 1891 Scotland Census Margaret Barclay, aged 30, born in Tarbolton Ayrshire, housekeeper, was at home with her widowed father at 5 James St., Tarbolton.

At the time of the 1901 Scotland Census Margaret Barclay, aged 39, born in Tarbolton Ayrshire, unmarried, general domestic servant, was working for William Garrow, commercial traveller, and his wife Janet, at 20 Chalmers Rd., Ayr, Ayrshire.
