At the time of the 1881 Scotland Census Mary W. Barclay, aged 23, born in Tarbolton Ayrshire, domestic housemaid, was working for James & Margaret McDonald at 14-15 Wellington Sqr., Ayr, Ayrshire.
In June 1889 Mary W Barclay was present at the married of her sister Jane Barclay to John William Anderson in Tarbolton Ayrshire.
At the time of the 1891 Scotland Census Mary Scott, aged 32, born in Tarbolton Ayrshire, and husband Robert Scott, aged 40, born in Newton in Ayr, foreman labourer, were living at 50 Russell St., Ayr, Ayrshire. Present were son William Murray (6)*, scholar, mother-in-law Mary Scott (70) of Shore in Kirkcudbright.

At the time of the 1901 Scotland Census Mary Scott, aged 42, born in Tarbolton Ayrshire, and husband Robt Scott, aged 50, born in Newton, foreman asphate?, were living at 118 Salamander St., Leith, Midlothian. With them were children Wm. M. (16) of Tarbolton, apprentice plasterer, Mary C. C. (9) of Newton, scholar, John (8) of Newton, scholar, Jane B. (4) of Newton, scholar.
