Possibly the same William Kinge who was christened 17 Oct 1568 in St. Erth, son of Thomas.
William does not appear in the 1641 Protestation Return for Phillack or adjoining parishes, pointing to the probability that he died before then. William's wife, Katherine, died in 1646 and her name is recorded in the Phillack parish register as Jennings alias King. There is a record of William Jenens buried in Gwinear (nextdoor to Phillack) in 1637. That the family name was originally Jennings (alias King) is given additional support by the fact that, in the 1641 Protestation Return for Phillack, the name King does not appear at all (nor does it in Gwinear). However, in Phillack the names Reignald Jennings and Ralph Jeinninges are listed, who can in the context be identified as William's sons, who were baptised in Phillack under the name King in 1610 and 1616 respectively. When William and Katherine married he gave the name King. It would appear that Jennings ceased to be used after the 1640s.
