In 1776 William Bate was a beneficiary of his father's Will, receiving an inheritance in fee simple of a tenement in Church Town Tresmeer, along with remainders of tenements known variously as Jewels, Wadland and Badgall in the parish of Laneast, conditional that William pays his mother Grace £2 annually during her widowhood.
