In October 1861 Edward Tangye was present at the marriage of his brother George to Mary Catherine Weston in Edgbaston, Warwickshire.
In 1871 Edward Tangye, aged 37, born in Illogan, mechanical engineer retired, and wife Anne Tangye, aged 29, born in Illogan, were in Treworgie, Redruth, Cornwall. With them were children Ernest W. (2) of Handsworth Warwickshire, and Alfred (11 mnths) of Redruth.

In March 1884 Edwd Tangye was present at the marriage of his sister Anne Tangye to Richard John Connock at Falmouth Society of Friends.
In 1891 Edward Tangye, aged 58, born in Illogan, safety fuse manufacturer, and wife Anne Tangye, aged 49, born in Illogan, were living at The Elms, Green Lane, Redruth. DEATH OF MR. E. TANGYE, OF BIRMINGHAM.
The death took place on Thursday, of Mr. Edward Tangye, of Birmingham.
Edward Tangye, who, with his three brothers, left his native parish of Illogan in the early sixties for Birmingham, took a share in the early struggles of the firm, and contributed out of no mean natural endowments to the signal success which the brothers ultimately achieved in the world-renowned Cornwall works which they founded at Soho. He took an active part in the mechanical department of the business, but after a few years was compelled by a breakdown in health to give up the work which his strong bent for engineering made congenial to him, and retire. He had in his early days devoted much attention to improved methods for horticulture, and became an expert in fruit growing, and it was in this direction that he sought relief in Cornwall. But he found himself unable to relinquish the fascination for mechanical invention, and soon was engaged in the study of the methods of manufacturing blasting fuse, a subject which had long occupied the attention of his brothers James and Joseph. In this he achieved marked success, and having designed and constructed automatic machinery of a novel type, he was soon engaged in the manufacture of an improved quality of fuse. This machinery in its latest development is now used in the fuse factories of the Nobel Company.
Mr. Tangye a few years ago removed from his Cornish home to Knowle, near Birmingham, where, at the Manor House, he resumed his horticultural work, giving special attention to the culture of apples, in which he was remarkably successful. Mr. Tangye, who was in his 78th year, leaves a widow and family.
