In 1841 Joseph Tangey, aged about 40, farmer, and wife Ann Tangey, aged about 40, born in the county, were living in Broad Lane, Illogan, Cornwall. With them were children James (15), smith, Joseph (14), John (12), Ann (10), Edward (9), Richard (7), George (5) and Alice (3).

In 1851 Joseph Tangye, aged 52, born in Illogan, retired grocer, and wife Ann Tangye, aged 50, born in Illogan, were living in Broad Lane, Illogan. With them were children (born in Illogan, unmarried) James (25), engineer, Joseph (24), engineer, Ann (20), Edward (18), farmer of 12 acres, George (15) and Sarah (6).

Joseph Tangye late of the parish of Illogan in the county of Cornwall, farmer, a widower, died without making a will. Bond upon the Administration of his goods &c. was granted 14 January 1857 to Richard Tangye of 38 Spring Street, Edgbaston, Birmingham, Warwickshire, commission agent, dissenter from the Church England common called a quaker, the son, and one of the next of kin of the said deceased.

Effects sworn under £200.

Died 21 March 1854. 3

Joseph married Ann Bullock, daughter of Edward Bullock of Illogan, Gent. and Jemima Blight, on 28 Dec 1824 in Illogan, Cornwall. (Ann Bullock was christened 26 Dec 1800 in Illogan, Cornwall and died in 1851 at Broad Lane, Illogan, Cornwall, aged 51 years.)
