In 1851 John Michell, aged 47, born in Lelant Cornwall, joiner, and wife Alice Michell, aged 41, born in Madron Cornwall, were living in Necledry, Towednack, Cornwall. With them were children (born in Towednack) John H. Vingoe (5), scholar, Mary Ellen (3), scholar, and Samuel George (1).

In 1861 John Michell, aged 56, born in Lelant, wheelwright & joiner, and wife Alice Michell, aged 51, born in Madron, were living at 12, Grocers Shop, Towednack. With them were children (born in Towednack) John H (15), joiner, Mary E (13), and Samuel G (11), scholar.

In 1863 John Michell of Towednack, wheelwright, was the sole executor of his father's will.

In 1871 John Michell, aged 67, born in Uny Lelant, widower, master wheelwright, was living at 11, Necledry, Towednack. With him were children (born in Towednack, unmarried) Mary Ellen (23), house keeper, and George (21), corn & flour & manure merchant's clerk.

The Will of John Michell late of Nancledrea in the parish of Towednack in the county of Cornwall, carpenter, who died 25 February 1878 at Nancledrea, was proved 20 June at Bodmin by Mary Ellen Michell of Nancledrea, spinster, the daughter, the sole executrix. Effects under £300. 2
