In 1851 William Mitchell, aged 49, born in Lelant Cornwall, master carpenter employing 13 men, and wife Elizabeth Mitchell, aged 48, born in Towednack Cornwall, were living in North Terrace, St. Ives, Cornwall. With them were children William (22) of Towednack, John (17) of Towednack, Steven (14) of Zennor, and mother-in-law Margaret Curnow (83) of Towednack, widow, landed proprietor.

In 1861 William Michell, aged 59, born in Lelant, victualler & house builder, and wife Elizabeth Michell, aged 58, born in Towednack, were living in Fore Street, St. Ives.

In 1865 William Michell of St. Ives, innkeeper, was co-executor of the will of his brother Robert Michell of Chypons.
