In 1850, William (18) was with his father.

In 1870, William (40) and Martha (39) were at 1st District Baltimore Maryland, with Emma (17) William (15) Charles (12) and Joseph (9).

In 1880, William H (49) and Martha (47), were at Millington Baltimore Maryland, with William (24) Charles H (22) and Joseph (19). William's parents were both born in Scotland.

In 1900, William H (69) and Martha A (68) were at 138 Ramsay Street Baltimore Maryland, with Charles H (42). Martha had 5 children, four living. William's father was said to have been born in Maryland. William (45) may have been a single day labourer lodging in Providence Rhode Island.

Martha's obituary in the Baltimore Sun, copied into her Findagrave entry, records that William was City Councilman for the 21st Ward and Captain of the Western Police District. There is also a detailed obituary for their son William, who died in 1939.

In 1920, Martha (31) and Edwin [sic] (32) were at Baltimore Maryland with Edith (7) James L (5) and Carrie W (w) (66).

In 1930, Martha (41) and Edmund (42) were at Baltimore Maryland, with Edith (16) and James (14) both Maryland. Also mother-in-law [sic] Caroline Hoopes (79) Maryland.

In 1940, Edith M (60) was at 1715 Lombard Street Baltimore Maryland, with Martha R (48) and Edmond G (48) Hoops office clerk Maryland. In 1939, Edmond had worked for 52 weeks and earned $1834.

Edith Hoopes was born on 5th December 1913 and died on 29th December 1989 Montgomery Pennsylvania. James lloyd Hoopes was married 19th August 1935 All Saints Baltimore Maryland to Ophelia RACKUS (21) Father: Walter RACKUS Mother: Mary Gurklis. He was born on 25th July 1915 and died on 12th January 2007 Sarasota Sarasota Florida. She was born 5th February 1914 and died 25th February 1994 Broward Florida. In 1940, James L (24) dept store salesman and Ophelia (26) Massachusetts were at 3002 Hallem Avenue Baltimore Maryland, with James G Hoopes (1) Maryland. In 1939, James had worked for 52 weeks and earned $1560. 2
