Mandate to the justiciary of Ireland, to inspect the charter of King Henry the king's father, held by Walter de Ridelisford, touching the vills of Kilmacchoze, Kilnemen, Knocflin, Tachony, Balifargel, Baliculen, and Balimochan; and if they are in the king's demesne and well situated for the king's interest, the justiciary shall cause Walter to have an exchange without that demesne; if not, the justiciary shall allow Walter to hold the lands in peace.

The king commands the Archbishop of Dublin, justiciary of Ireland, "to inquire by good and lawful men whether Walter de Ridelesford impleaded Henry de Vernoil touching the land of Dovenadbroc, before or after he came into England; and if it appears by the inquisition that Henry was impleaded by Walter after he came thither, then the justiciary shall cause him to be reseised of the land, for the king then warrants to Henry his default by absence, for which he was disseised; and if Henry was impleaded by Walter before he came into England, then the justiciary shall cause Walter to have the seisin of the land which he previously had by judgment.

The king grants to Walter de Rydeleford that he have until the king's age free warren in his manors of Breand Kylka, and in the vale of Dublin cancelled....

Further grant to the same Walter that he have until the king's age a fair at his manor of Tristelderemod, to last from the vigil of St. Leonard till the morrow of St. Martin [5-12 Nov].

The king commits during pleasure to Walter de Ridelesford, for his maintenance in the king's service, 4 carucates of land in Kilmakech, Kilnenien, Tascony, and Cnocflin.

The king to Richard de Burgh. Walter de Rideleford prays that the king will give him licence to divert outside his park of Garnenan, a way which passes through its middle. Mandate to the justiciary to permit the way to be diverted, if it can be done without damage to the neighbourhood.
The king commands Richard de Burgh, that notwithstanding the mandate to take into the king's hand all the king's demesne lands in Ireland, he permit Walter de Rideleford to peaceably enjoy 4 carucates of land in Talkony, Kylmakeche, Kalleninigen and Clonhliny, which the king commits to him, until further orders, for his maintenance.

The king notifies to his barons of the Exchequer that the executors of Walter Marshall, late Earl of Pembroke, have made a fine of 200 marks, and have granted to the king custody of a moiety of the lands which belonged to Walter de Rydeleford in Lagenia [Leinster], in order to have free administration of the Earl's chattels in England, Wales, and Ireland...

13 Feb 1245/6, Reading

Mandate to John Fitz Geoffrey, justiciary of Ireland, to inquire whether Maurice Fitz Gerald, while justiciary, was seised of 4½ vills of land and ½ a knight's fee in Kennennard, Manumrechan, Innesflasferchi, Mommorgan, Rahbochi, Conyn, Balihechun, Bolicolgon, Maislisme, Kilgorvi, as appurtenant to the castle of Achmakin. The custody of those lands fell into the king's hand after the death of Walter de Rideleford, and the king granted custody to Fulk of Newcastle. If by this inquisition the justiciary find that Maurice was seised of the lands in the king's name, he shall cause Fulk to have seisin thereof.

The king having been informed that lands held in capite by Walter de Rydelesford at his death had been occupied by other persons while the king had the custody of them, the king commands the justiciary to inquire on oath into the truth of these allegations, and to cause all the lands alienated from Walter's inheritance to be restored to Stephen Longespee and Emelina, his wife, one of Walter's heirs, and to Ebulo de Geneve and Christiana his wife, another of Walter's heirs.
