On 3 Jul 1370 Ralph Lyngayn was on a Commission of oyer and terminer on complaint by William Devereus that whereas he lately contracted matrimony with Elizabeth de Mortimer per verba de presenti and put her, with her consent, in the manse of his manor of Haymondesfrome, co. Hereford, for safe keeping until the solemnization of the matrimony should be completed, and handed over to her the care of his household and the disposition of his goods, Ralph Yeddefen, Thomas Yeddefen, Philip de Colynton, William de Brokhampton, Peter de Nethewode, and others, came armed and in array of war to the manse, besieged and broke it, carried away his goods, assaulted his men and servants put in the said manse for the safe keeping of Elizabeth and his goods and chattels, carried away the said Elizabeth, his servant, and lay in wait for him to kill him, so that he dare not come to the manse to dispose thereof for his profit.

Although in the last parliament held at Westminster it was ordered that all men having lands [etc.] in Ireland should be there before St John the Baptist following [24 June 1380], Henry Ferrers, 'chivaler,' has been ordered to go to France together with other nobles and others with a certain number of men-at-arms and archers to recover the king's rights there, and Ralph Lyngeyn kt, his attorney, has found sufficient surety to pay the king one third of the value of all the lands [etc.] which he has in Ireland for the time of his absence. Order to deliver the lands to him.
