In 1841 Mary Morgan was co-executrix of her father's Will, at which time she was living with her mother in St. George-super-Ely, Glamorgan.
In July 1861 Mary Ellis was granted Letters of Administration of the personal estate of her late husband.
In 1871 Mary Ellis, aged 57, born in St. Georges Glamorgan, widow, farmer of 30 acres, was living in Trehill, St. Nicholas, Glamorgan. With her were children Elizabeth Ellis (19) of St. Georges, and William (14) of St. Nicholas.
In 1881 Mary Ellis, aged 69, born in St. Georges Glamorgan, widow, annuitant, was living in Cardiff St. Nicholas Glamorgan. With her was son William (24) of St. Nicholas, annuitant.

The Will of Mary Ellis late of Trehill in the parish of St. Nicholas in the county of Glamorgan, widow, who died 5 February 1887 at Trehill, was proved 17 March at Llandaff by Richard Thomas of Llanvair in the parish of Capellanilterne in the said county, farmer, and John Alfred Thomas of the "Tumble" in the parish of St. George's in the said county, publican, the executors. Personal estate £4,007 7s. 6d. 2
