WIDOW BANKRUPT AT 70
LIABILITIES OF £13,000 IN CARDIFF BUSINESS
Mrs. Lavinia Norman, for many years a prominent figure in the public life of the city, appeared by Registrar Harry Cousins at the Cardiff Bankruptcy-court on Friday for her public examination.
Debtor said she was the widow of John Norman, who was in business as a coachbuilder. She was nearly seventy years of age. The estate of her husband, who died in 1903, was sworn at £9,552, and consisted of the business and certain properties. She was appointed an executor of the will. Later her husband's business was transformed into a limited liability company.
Her liabilities were entirely connected with the business of John Norman (Limited) and John Norman (Ely) Limited, both of which companies were in liquidation. Her statement of affairs showed liabilities of £13,681 11s. 9d.
The examination was closed, subject to the signing of the notes.
