In 1861 Sampson Bamfield, aged 66, born in Uny Lelant Cornwall, tin miner, and wife Mary, aged 57, born in Uny Lelant, were living in the village of Halsetown, St. Ives Cornwall. With them were daughters (born in Uny Lelant) Nanny (29), tin dresser, Maria (19), tin dresser, and Melinda (16), tin dresser.
In 1871 Samson Banfield, aged 76, born in Lelant Cornwall, agricultural labourer, and wife Mary, aged 67, born in Lelant, were living at 9 Chyanverl?, Uny Lelant. With them were daughter Maria Banfield (29) of Lelant, unmarried, tin miner, grandsons Thomas Charles Banfield (8) of St. Ives and Matthew Rapson (9 months) of Lelant.
