Abstract of the Will of Ann Borlas of Little Marlow, Widow of John Borlas, Esquire, written 4 Mar 1618/9, proved 11 May 1622. 2

Wills that her body be buried near her late husband in Little Marlow churchyard.

Gives £30 to the poor, whereof £10 to the poor inhabitants of Little Marlow, £10 to the poor of Great Marlow, and £10 to the poor of Great Wycombe.

Gives to each of her daughters Isham, Backhouse and Tippinge a basin and silver ewer valued at £30 each, engraved with her father's arms.

Gives to her godddaughter Mary Borlas, her son's wife, 20 marks to buy a guilt cup with her father's arms engraved.

Gives to her daughter Joyce Codrington £30 to buy coach horses.

Gives an annuity of £30 to her daughter Ellen Turner.

Gives £100 to her granddaughter Joyce Codrington, to be paid to her when she turns twenty-six or marries with her mother's consent, whichever comes first. If Joyce marries without her mother's consent, then the £100 is to be kept for her granddaughter Isabell Codrington. And if Isabell marries without consent then the £100 is to be kept for her grandsons Robert & William Codrington.

Gives £5 to John Buckley, son of Mr. Thomas Buckley, vicar of Little Marlow.

Gives £5 to Mr. Rolls, a minister or preacher staying in her house.

Gives £6 13s. 4d. to her servant William Dawkes.

Gives £4 to her servant John Archer.

Gives £5 to her servant Joane Drake.

Gives 40 shillings to Hanna Cordley, eldest daughter of her servant William Cordeley late deceased.

Gives 40 shillings to her servant Ann Ryder.

Gives 40 shillings to her servant Mary Hatche.

Gives 20 shillings to her servant Dorcas Longe.

Gives £3 to her servant Sara Ward?.

Gives 50 shillings to her servant Symon Walker.

Gives 50 shillings to her servant William Readinge.

All the residue of her goods, chattels, plate, household stuff &c. she gives to her son William Borlas the elder, appointing him sole executor of her last will and testament.

Makes her sons-in-law Samuel Backhouse and Anthony Blagrove, esquires, overseers of her will, giving to them and to her son-in-law Sir George Tippinge 40 shillings each.

In a codicil she gives £30 to her aunt's daughter Elizabeth Kaynes (Raynes?).
