At the time of the 1911 England Census John William Drury, aged 44, born in Halifax Yorkshire, single, bank accountant, was living in Snowlands, Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire. With him were sister Catherine Rideout (47) of Halifax, married, and nephew John Howard Rideout (13) of Kensington London, school.

In June 1920 John William Drury, accountant, was granted Administration of the personal effects of his late brother Mark Edward Drury of Hanwell.
