The Annales Parchenses record the birth in 1207 of "Heinricus filius ducis Heinrici". The Oude Kronik van Brabant names "Henricum postea ducem Lotharingie, Godefrido de Louanio" as the sons of "Henricus…primus, dux Lotharingie" and his wife "Mechteldim, filiam Mathei Boloniensis comitis".
He succeeded his father in 1235 as HENRI II Duke of Brabant. After the death in Feb 1247 of Heinrich Raspe anti-King of Germany, Landgraf of Thuringia, Duke Henri II proposed his nephew Willem II Count of Holland as successor after declining the position himself.
The Annales Parchenses record the death in 1247 of "Heinricus II dux" aged 40. The Annales Sancti Pantaleonis Coloniensis records the death in Jan 1248 of "Heinricus dux Brabantie". The necrology of Seligenthal records the death "IV Non Feb" of "Heinricus dux Brabantie pater dilecte Marie". The Genealogia Ducum Brabantiæ Heredum Franciæ records that "Henricus…secundus dux" was buried at Villers. The Oude Kronik van Brabant records the death at Louvain in 1247 of "Henricus secundus et quintus dux Brabancie" and his burial "in monasterio Vilariensi". 1

Henri married Maria VON STAUFEN, daughter of Philip II VON STAUFEN, King of Germany, Duke of Swabia, and Eirene Maria ANGELINA, on 22 Aug 1215 in Brabant, Belgium. (Maria VON STAUFEN was born in 1199/1200 in Hohenstaufen, Schwaben, Bayern and died before 1235 in Louvain, France.

Henri also married Sofie VON THÜRINGEN, daughter of Ludwig IV "der Heilige" VON THÜRINGEN, Landgraf of Thuringia, and Erszébet of Hungary, in 1240. (Sofie VON THÜRINGEN was born on 20 Mar 1224 in Wartburg, Thuringia and died on 29 May 1278 in Marburg.)
