Margareta VAN LIMBURG, Duchess of Lorraine
- Married: 1158
- Died: 1172
- Buried: église collégiale de Saint Pierre, Louvain, Brabant, Belgium
Research Notes:
Her parentage and marriage are deduced from the Chronicle of Alberic de Trois-Fontaines which names "duce Lovanii Henrico" and "avunculo eius duce de Lemborch…Henrico" when recording their presence at the coronation of "Otto comes Pictavorum" as king of Germany in 1198. The Oude Kronik van Brabant records the marriage of "Godefridus" in the seventeenth year of his rule to "Margaretam filiam Henrici comitis Lymburgensis". The Annales Parchenses record the marriage in 1155 of "Godefridus dux" and "sororem ducis de Lemburg", and the death of "Margarita uxor ducis Godefridi" in 1172. The Oude Kronik van Brabant records that she was buried "in ecclesia Sancti Petri Lovaniensis". 1
