Parramatta Bankruptcy Court, Monday
'... Francis George Hack, clerk, of Parramatta.... Bankrupt deposed that he had filed a statement of his affairs and did not wish to amend it. He had never been bankrupt or insolvent before. He had handed over his papers and bankbook to the official assignee. He attributed his bankruptcy to sickness of self and family, and to paying interest on borrowed money. His salary had been £256 per annum. He now offered to pay £3 a month to his creditors. His assets were the sum of £17 paid to the official assignee (part of his October salary), and his furniture valued at £20.... At a meeting of creditors, held subsequently, it was decided that the bankrupt be not allowed to retain his furniture, and that it be sold in the interest of the creditors.' 3
